Baby Burn On
Baby Burn On
The installation explores the inner states of exhaustion, fear, anger, and doubt—moments when it seems as if something within us is burning. Twenty-seven fire blankets, each carrying a short text fragment, transform into carriers of these emotions, evoking the constant readiness to extinguish a fire that never fully dies down.
The blankets, usually tools of protection and safety, here shift their meaning, symbolizing the perpetual alarm in which the body and mind remain when pushed to their limits. The title BABY BURN ON refers to the concept of burn-on as described by Timo Schiele and Bert te Wildt: a condition of continuing to burn, physically tangible, just before burnout, where withdrawal is no longer possible.
The installation points to the impossibility of escape from a body that keeps signaling distress, and to the quiet violence of endurance when collapse is constantly deferred.
