This lamp begins as fabric — layered, sewn, and shaped into form — but its surface carries the marks of another story. The cloth recalls the distressed textiles of how fast fashion is bought and thrown away like that: worn graphics, overprinted surfaces, and seams that echo garments made to be temporary.
Across its surface, precise piercings interrupt the layers. When illuminated, these punctures scatter light as though the fabric itself is bleeding brightness into the room. What might have been soft and silent cloth becomes luminous and architectural. The holes are wounds, but also gateways — absence of material, yet presence of glow.
By reusing and reshaping fabric in this way, the work asks questions about the cycle of consumption and disposal. It stands as both critique and transformation: a reminder of how quickly textiles are produced and abandoned, and an example of how they might be reborn as something lasting, atmospheric, and contemplative.
The lamp balances fragility and resilience, craft and industry, intimacy and spectacle. It is not only illumination, but experience — a light stitched together from fragments of culture, waste, and memory, reframed as sculpture.
