Class antagonism, its violence, its contempt, are often seen as an objective, distant and abstract structure, crystallizing nowhere, despite its over-presence and its social over-determinism, while its history is confused with that of other, more intimate structures, such as that of kinship.
A socially integrated domination of affects, in the form of daily practices, emotions and beliefs that reinforce social hierarchies, limit life choices, and keep mutilated individuals captive to patterns of structured social suffering, legalizing an integral dimension of symbolic violence which legitimizes and administers a power of domination.
