A research into identity, transformation and duality.
 

Recto Verso begins with a question: what lies beneath the face we show the world? In this ongoing project, individuals are guided through a transformative process that turns them into unrecognizable artistic characters , not to erase who they are, but to reveal deeper layers of identity. Through extreme make-up, body painting and visual storytelling, each transformation becomes a mirror of personal essence and inner narrative.
 

Every transformation is meticulously crafted, drawing on each participant’s personal colors, influences, memories and desires. While the result may be visually unfamiliar, it captures and honors the individual’s unique presence in a striking and unforgettable way. This creative metamorphosis invites viewers to see identity not as fixed, but as a dynamic interplay between inner self and outer representation.
 

The project started with Lieve, one of the first participants who trusted the process and allowed her persona to unfold through multiple layers and interpretations. Her experience became the seed for Recto Verso, which continues to investigate how identity can be reshaped, refracted and re-seen through transformative artistic practice.
