Their combative chauvinism and motivational chants had proven instrumental in the 'Slag om Olsjt', where the Ghentian militia had halted the Antwerpian hordes led by Fernand II, a former industrialist that had declared himself King of Flanders in the wake of the Belgian Dissolution.

Though the Buffalo Soldiers were welcomed as heroes, their legacy turned out to be rather complicated. Though they remain folksy heroes in the eyes of some, others consider them common criminals that blackmail honest traders and citizens for protection money.

Turning their tour bus into a pirate boat probably didn't help either.

Most of the time however , they just stand around telling tall tales and drinking Cararara Pils ("een biertje met pit - vraag alleen niet wat erin zit!").
