Light installation in the Point Hotel, Edinburgh, Scotland, June 2007

This light installation was an interesting play on the uniquely designed lighting scheme and building of the Point Hotel. Located at the end of a long corridor, a large swinging light bulb drew people in with its appearance and disappearance. Once at the end of the corridor the secret of the moving light dot was revealed. When the visitor turned around to leave the room he is confronted with a second large light bulb, which hung still, was not switched on and caught the reflection of one of the hotel’s tube lights. The installation used the icon of light, ‘The Light Bulb’, to heighten the experience of light and darkness within the Point Hotel.
