WHEN THE LIGHTS GO OUT

WHEN THE LIGHTS GO OUT

Installation at Krisni rhodcik, Piran, Slovenia, April 2007

This installation was part of a group exhibition at the end of a 10-day residency in Piran. The exhibition took place in the atrium of the local Franciscan monastery. 'When the lights go out' plays into this religious setting by using old praying candles found on the cemetery of Piran. The candles reveal the religious nature of the space. The set-up of the candles mimics the shape of the space and through this the installation links architecture and programme and heightens the experience of both.
