In August, I moved to a new country. In September, I moved into a new apartment. Living in an apartment filled with things that are not mine, navigating my way in this brand new space, looking for patterns that I recognise from home. I just received a letter from my parents, I am so excited to open it.

This photographic series is an exploration of my experience living abroad, contained within one space - my apartment. I juxtaposed the existing AirBnb furnishings with my own makeshift, temporary decorations and photographed letters I wrote to home in different languages, reflecting on the concept of 'home' as a place in between places. I then later also positioned myself in the space, and my ongoing project in the space. Through doing this, I tried to push the boundaries of self-referentiality and self-portrait photography.

In a continuation of the project, I made silk screen prints and risograph prints with my process material.
